“New Vision, New Life”
“Where there is no vision the people perish, but when God gives New Vision, the People Prosper”
The 2018 Spiritual Theme for New Life Baptist Church is “New Vision, New Life”. The biblical reference for this theme is taken from Proverbs 29:18 which states, “Where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
As the new pastor I recognize that 2018 is a transitional year for New Life Baptist Church and we need a new vision. As a christian, I understand that we need to see what God would have us to do and would have us to go and we need a new vision.
New visions bring excitement, hope, anticipation and give purpose. I want 2018 to be a year in which we intentionally seek a new vision for our lives and for our church in certain specific areas each month, so that God can breath that “New Life” back into our lungs, homes, heart and church.
Each month of the year has a New Vision attached to it, with several activities planned within the month.
Purpose of the Monthly activities:
To Share the Gospel With the Lost.
To have Christian activities for the church and the community
To increase and improve the footprint, awareness and visibility of New Life Baptist Church in the Madison/Hinds County area.
To grow Christian fellowship among NLBC members and other churches.
To motivate Christians to serve, grow and give at New Life Baptist Church.
To help us to grow spiritually.
To create an excitement about New Life Baptist Church, the Bible and the Lord.
For people to get a Vision for what God would have them to do and be as Christians in their home, in the church and in the community.
In keeping with the overall theme of the year “New Vision, New Life” each month has been given a specific “Vision Focus”.
January – New Vision for the Church
We will kick off the year with Vision Casting Night at Church and share the Vision, mission and goals for the church for the year. The major events for the month are the “I Love My Church” banquet and the Family Conference. The Family conference is held during Vision for Church month, because the Church is only as strong as the family and the church is ultimately made up of families. If we spiritually strengthen families, we strengthen the Church.
February – New Vision for Couples
February, valentines and couples all go hand in hand. Which is why February’s theme is a vision for couples. Our goal is to strengthen the bond between couples with God’s vision for marriage and God’s expectations of husbands and wives. Satan has attacked marriages with great efficiency and our desire is to fight back with the Word of God and purpose to marry for life, the one God has chosen for us. The big events of the month are the Couples Retreat and the “Pack the Pew” Sunday.
March – New Vision for Families
Families are being torn apart by the world, the flesh and the devil. Satan has pitted husbands against wives and parents against children. This must end, especially in the Christian home. We are putting a special emphasis on the home and family this month that men, ladies and children will get a vision of the role and expectation that God has for them in the family. The Big events and outreach of the month are: the Youth conference in Hattiesburg, the Ladies Pampering outing and the St. Paddy’s Day Parade Outreach in Downtown Jackson.
April – New Vision for the Lost
This year Easter falls on April 1st and we want to remember that the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary was for the lost. We must get the vision that Jesus had for us and apply it to others, to seek and to save that which is lost. So many have not put their full faith and trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone. Our goal is to point as many people to Christ as possible. Our mission is to share the gospel with as many as we can, understanding that if we can get them to the cross, Jesus will make the change. The major outreach activities for this month are: Easter Revival, and Family and Friend day.
May – New Vision for Ladies
With Mother’s Day being in May, we focus our vision on ladies. The Bible reminds us that “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Ladies are important to God, the home, the church and the community. We want to spend the month getting a vision for the work, worth and value that ladies bring to society. Our major events for the month are: Love thy Neighbor Sunday, Mother’s Banquet, Mother’s Day Recognition Service and the Church’s Anniversary. This month is also holds the wedding anniversary of Pastor and Sister Hite.
June – New Vision for Men
The Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” God is still looking for men. We want to take this month to get a Godly vision of manhood and man’s purpose in the home and church and work toward men meeting God’s expectation. June is a natural fit for men because Father’s Day is celebrated in the month. Our outreach activities to support our vision are: Saturday Father’s Activity, Father’s Day Sunday and Vacation Bible School
July – New Vision for Youth
July is full blown summertime and the perfect time to focus on our youth. We want this month to be a time when we bring the young people to the Lord. We want God to give young people a vision for what He has for them. The youth of today face so many snares, traps and temptations of the world and the devil. We want them to see their place in God’s plan and embrace that vision. Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Youth 3-on-3 basketball tourney, Youth Awards Sunday, and Youth camp at Pensacola Christian College.
August – New Vision for the Community
The Bible tells us in Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Our Jerusalem is the Madison, Hinds area and it is our mission to make that our vision. We must get a vision of all the souls around us, right next to us, within our community. We must catch the vision of seeing those in our community reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ and we must do our part to achieve that mission. Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Teacher Appreciation Sunday, Back to school Sunday, and Men’s Beast Feast
September – New Vision for Giving
The Bible reminds us that the Lord loves a cheerful giver. In September we want to get a vision of giving freely and cheerfully to others in the same manner that God so freely gives to us. Answers to many prayers are in the pockets of God’s people, yet we do not provide because the vision of the joy of giving is not in our hearts. Prayerfully the vision emphasis on giving this month will change many hearts and help a many people.
Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Above and Beyond Sunday, Ladies Fellowship, Labor Day cookout, Coaches Appreciation Sunday.
October – New Vision for Missions
The Bible tells us in Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” We must get a vision for the heart of God, which is missions. Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore…,”. The mission of the church is missions, not just locally but world wide. Though we cannot be everywhere we should have vision and heart for those going. Where we cannot go, let us be sure to give to Missions so that others can.
Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Missions Conference, Fall Festival and Trunkfest, First Responders Sunday. We will also be celebrating Pastor Hite’s One year anniversary with New Life Baptist Church.
November – New Vision for Grace
November is a great time to get a vision for Grace, because the emphasis in America is on giving thanks. If we can get a vision of the grace that God has bestowed upon us, it will make us better Christians, better servants, better citizens. The Bible is filled with stories of people whose lives were changed because they found Grace; Noah, David, Ruth to name a few. And God gives us new grace daily aka, “something to be thankful for.”
Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Thanksgiving Praise service, Community Sweet potato pie delivery and Joint church fellowship Sunday
December – New Vision for Christ
As we close the year we must ensure that we have a solid vision of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and then we must get a vision to impress upon and share it with others. “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:11 If we do not get a vision of the purpose of Jesus’ birth and see the importance of it we shall perish. Christmas time is the perfect time of year to share Jesus, to get a vision of Jesus and to promote Jesus. The carols, the atmosphere, the spirit of giving, the constant telling of the story of Jesus’ birth and the openness of the world to “Merry Christmas” gives us the perfect opportunity to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Our major outreach activities to support this month’s vision are: Madison Christmas parade outreach, Christmas Caroling, Christmas Concert and watchnight service.
As you can see, this year is filled with activities to encourage us, to challenge us and to grow us. But it all begins with a vision. Won’t you join us in this year of Vision. Catch a vision and see what God shows you. Embrace the vision and see where God takes you. Live the Vision and see what God does for you. Share the vision and see how God uses you.
